I write.
Not because
the world will remember,
but because I might.
A photograph.
A few lines.
A moment held
before it slips away.
The butterflies.
The hummingbirds.
The trees
lifting their arms
into morning sway.
The wind,
sometimes gentle,
sometimes angry.
Nature keeps
reminding me
That beauty
was never meant
to last.
Only to be noticed
before it passed.
I write
wanting
to make simple rhymes.
Preserving
moments.
Trying
for just a little while
to hold
time.
